Call for Contributions
We are pleased to announce that the European Conference “Framework, Quality, and Impact of Learning Mobility of Young People in Europe” will take place at the European Youth Center in Budapest, Hungary, 11 – 13 May 2011. The Call for Contributions is closed.
In recent years a multitude of programmes for the mobility of young people have been implemented by the EU and member states and carried out in a huge variety of international projects by non-governmental organizations. These programmes especially address non-formal as well as informal learning, often focusing on intercultural competence and European citizenship as learning objectives.
This European conference of researchers, practitioners, and involved institutions and organizations wants to take stock of current issues, research findings and best practices on educational youth mobility. This overview will serve to identify common interests, resources, and interfaces as a basis for collaboration projects, studies, and further exchanges within a European network of experts, who are interested in long-term cooperation.
We invited persons of the field of international youth work and learning mobility to make a contribution (workshop) connected to the conference themes.
In addition to contributions presenting research findings or best practice examples, we encourage proposals that offer innovative approaches to presenting and discussing research and practice. These may include for example
- discussions and roundtables or moderated debates
- interactive workshops
- sessions featuring audio and visual resources.
The contributors are affiliated with at least one of three fields:
(1) Social science: Applied researchers in international youth work or youth mobility, with an interest in and perspective for long-term collaboration with practitioners
(2) Practice: Programme staff as well as experienced trainers/consultants who are open for research activities
(3) Public institutions and non-governmental organizations: Interfaces between mobility programme providers and public policy makers.
Contributions (workshops) will be provided in the frame of the following themes:
• Theme I: Concepts and formats of young people’s learning mobility
• Theme II: Quality, standards and their implementation
• Theme III: Quality aspects – Approaching target groups
• Theme IV: Qualification for and through young people’s learning mobility
• Theme V: Comparative youth work
• Theme VI: Impact research and evaluation methods
• Theme VII: Current debates and challenges
One theme will provide 2-4 workshops (see preliminary programme). The length of a workshop session will be 90 minutes. The suggested number of contributions in each workshop is 1−3. The Steering and Programme Committee reserve the right to select the contributions for the themes. The contributions are selected based on the relevance of the topic, originality, format and completeness of the submittted paper to ensure that the conference includes a wide variety of session topics, formats, speakers and European countries.
Since we are talking about non-formal learning, we also encourage the contributors to make use of such methods.
Food, accommodation and travel expenses of the contributors with accepted contributions are covered.
The official language of the conference is English.
